Private boards

If you don’t want your board(s) to be public, there are a couple of ways to hide it for users and/or outsiders.

1. Team-only
Completely turn off the boards and your Upvoty URL for everyone outside your team. Only you and your team members are able to see and work on it.

2. Team + Users with Board URL
Turn off the public view of your board and only share it with users

3. Team + Users with Private SSO access
Turn off the public view of your board and only share it with users

1. Team-only

Visible to: You and Your Team. No outsiders.

Go to 'Boards'

Click on the board settings of the board you want to make private

Scroll down to 'Privacy'.

Toggle 'Open to Public' to 'OFF'

Leave 'Board on roadmap' 'ON' If you still want to see all the posts from this board on the roadmap (for your eyes only!). None of your users will see it since it's a private board.

Turn 'Indexing' to 'OFF' since we don't want this board to appear in search engines.

Hit 'Save' and only logged in team members will be able to visit the roadmap and boards (invite members to the team!)

2. Team + Users with board URL

Visible to: You, Your Team, and everyone with the board URL.

Go to 'Boards'

Click on the board you want to make private

Go to 'Settings'

Scroll down to 'Privacy'.

Turn 'ON' the 'Public view' which will make it public (hold on, it's going to be ok 😁).

Turn 'Board on roadmap' to 'OFF' since we don't want people to visit your Upvoty domain and be able to see this specific board.

Turn 'Indexing' to 'OFF' since we don't want this board to appear in search engines.

Now, either share the URL of the board with your users, or grab its widget code and embed it in your product. This way, only users with the URL or access to the page where the widget is embedded will have access! 🙌

3. Team + Users with Private SSO access

Visible to: You, your team, and users with private SSO access (they first need to log in via your application in order to see the contents and participate)

Option 1: Widgets. Close off your complete Upvoty feedback portal (dashboard -> settings -> privacy -> toggle everything off) and grab the roadmap or board widget and embed it in your product so it's only visible and accessible to users that are logged into your product.

Option 2: Feedback portal. Set up SSO Redirect with private access so users will first need to log in to your application and they'll then be automatically redirected to the feedback portal and are able to view the contents and participate.
