Upvoty setup help - All the basics!
This article will help you set up the basics for you to install and share your Upvoty. Don't worry, we got you covered! 💪
Roadmap
The roadmap is based on the homepage of your Upvoty (you can see it by visiting your Upvoty portal when clicking on 'PUBLIC VIEW' from your dashboard). The roadmap is here to share the things that are "in the loop".
FAQs:
How do I share the roadmap with my users?
You can share the roadmap by simply sharing your PUBLIC VIEW url, which is by default hosted on our .upvoty.com domain, but you can also set up your own custom domain. Besides that, you can also embed the roadmap in your product with the links to your board(s) via an embeddable widget.
"What if I don't want to share the roadmap with my users?"
You can simply turn off your complete homepage and use it internally only.
"What if I do want my homepage with the links to boards but don't want to show the roadmap?"
You can simply hide the roadmap element from your homepage.
How do I customize my roadmap?
You can change the colors, upload your logo, and more, all in the settings of your Upvoty dashboard.
How do I add things to my roadmap?
By simply changing the status of a feedback post into one of your roadmap's statuses.
How do I change the statuses on my roadmap?
You can determine what statuses are shown on your roadmap in the roadmap status. You can create custom board statuses as well.
Feedback boards
During the onboarding, you've already created your first feedback board. This feedback board can be shared with your users, or used internally only.
FAQs:
How do I share the feedback board with my users?
You can simply share the board's URL from the Upvoty domain (click on 'PUBLIC VIEW' from your dashboard), which is by default hosted on our .upvoty.com domain, but you can also set up a custom domain. Or you can grab the widget code and embed the board seamlessly in your product.
"What if I don't want to share the feedback board with my users?"
You can simply turn off the board's public status and make it private. Only you and your team members will be able to visit the board once you're logged in.
"What if I do want to share it with users, but don't want it on the roadmap homepage?"
You can simply go to the Roadmap settings in your dashboard and uncheck the board from the roadmap. It'll no longer be linked to.
How do I add another board?
Go to 'Boards' from the main menu and click 'ADD BOARD' in the sub menu.
How do I customize my board?
You can customize the statuses, the board form contents, the colors, and more, all in the board' settings.
Changelog
Besides your roadmap and boards, you can also activate a link to your Changelog and share all of your latest launches and updates in 1 single overview.
FAQs:
How do I share the Changelog with my users?
Once you add your first Changelog article (Go to 'Changelog' in your dashboard), the Changelog link will be visible on your Upvoty domain (Click the 'PUBLIC VIEW' button from your dashboard and you'll see a new link to the Changelog in the header). You can simply share the URL of the Changelog, which is by default hosted on our .upvoty.com domain, or you can set up a custom domain as well. Besides that, you can also embed the Changelog in your product via its widget code.

Users
If you're sharing your feedback boards with your users, there are 3 ways for them to participate.
1. Upvoty Register and Log in
By default, we ask your users to register an account before participating on your feedback boards. They can sign up with socials or email.
2. User SSO
You can also set up User SSO so that your users are already automatically logged in with their existing account from your application. You can also set up User SSO Redirect to make sure they always sign in or sign up first.
3. Anonymously
Don't want your users to log in at all? Simply turn on anonymous user accounts. The downside of this? You won't collect user emails and thus you're not in the position to communicate new updates with them. If you do want to reach your users, but do want their names to be anonymous, you can simply hide their user names.
